from left to right: HT weightless sunscreen, bambi eye mascara, L.A. Girl brow gel, Buxom lip gloss, L'Oreal lip gloss-in-balm, REFY brow gel, Revlon concealer, ABH brow pencil, maybelline eyeliner, mac eye primer, Nars blush, No7 finishing powder.

Wow, wow, wow! This is my first post. Thanks for checking me out. For this, my very first blog post, I’ll be sharing my current makeup routine.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is essentially health care for your skin. Yes, while there are many appearances of age prevention benefits, sun protection is meant to reduce the damage from the sun’s rays, especially when you’re using exfoliants.

Now, this sunscreen is hard to find sometimes. it has been well-worth the search. It is a chemical sunscreen, but if you have no issues using chemical sunscreen, I would suggest this one. Lightly scented and applies so easily. Even without makeup, I feel so put together. No ghost mask appearance. Just glowy looking skin.

Easy to use sunscreen, no oxybenone or octinoxate, if that’s important to you. Applies well in less than 90 seconds.

Full coverage concealer

There’s been a heyday for the past few years for skin tints and light coverage complexion products. The coverage trends for foundation and concealer have been changing to respond to different audiences who may have been wearing less makeup and more skincare with working from home being more common. Now with companies demanding more time in the office, we’ve seen a flurry of medium coverage foundations launch this past year.

As for myself, I’ve been really attracted to medium-to-buildable coverage concealers. I hesitate to say full coverage on occasion, because nearly opaque coverage complexion products are hard to find. ***Full Coverage™*** concealers and foundations are usually marketed towards professional makeup artists, and difficult to use for makeup consumers not interested in mixing shades since the high degree of pigmentation leaves little room for error in shade matching.

A high coverage concealer has been in my makeup routine for the past year because I want to cover up redness around my nose, blemishes on my cheeks, and make the skin tone on my face match my neck.

I didn’t start to wear sunscreen daily until high school and it wasn’t SPF 30 until college. Not to mention those two years where I scrubbed my face twice in the morning and at night… with not a lick of sunscreen to shield my raw face while I was running around campus in the midday sun.

Revlon’s colorstay concealer has been a big favorite for me the past four months. I’ve pushed my foundations aside for this thin formula concealer that has a dewy skin finish even when set with powder. And I *do* recommend setting this concealer with a powder, even if you are oily to make this last past six hours.

Blurring Setting Powder

no7 lift & luminate finishing powder – light https://amzn.to/3CV96YB

This powder has been a true blue friend since I got it around a year or two ago. I’ve hit pan in it and it’s so exciting! I was initially really sad when I saw more and more of the pan being revealed. But, I purchased another so I don’t have to immediately commit to trial and error with others in case it’s not available once I finish this one off.

The compact is a very delightful mirrored finish, holding inside a powder that is blurring, lightweight, and mattifies softly without giving a powdered donut finish. Although, sometimes I do want that look… no7 doesn’t mess around with giving a natural look to your makeup that doesn’t allow you to doubt that you look good.

I understand why people say this is a Charlotte Tilbury powder dupe. They both promise all the same things. But No7 powder fulfills all of them for less than half the price, and the packaging of the lift & luminate powder feels heftier, making the experience even more luxurious in comparison.

Soft & Barely There Blush

nars blush – sex appeal https://amzn.to/3yGAqY8

This blush… is astounding. I’ve previously experienced Nars blushes when my mom showed me her Nars blush in Almeria, a lovely lightly shimmered plum burgundy. The Nars blushes are finely milled, especially their stain and matte blushes, which makes their blushes easy to dust lightly on the cheeks or build up color quickly with a dense brush.

The particular shade of “sex appeal” is a pale peach. In the pan, it doesn’t look particularly appealing. But applied to fair and light skin, this shade adds life to the skin without taking attention from other parts of the face. This shade would be a great complement to a dramatic eye look or dutiful tool in a makeup bag for minimal makeup looks.

If you have a medium skin tone, the swatches of Illicit or Tempted give a similar look, and Nars Savage looks like it might give a nude peach blush look for dark skin. If you have used any of those or have any recommendations for nude peach blushes for your skin tone, I would love to hear what you think.

I vouch for the nars blush singles formula and look forward to experiencing more shades in the future. Sin, Deepthroat, Behave, and Zen in particular are calling my name! I’m gonna be looking at more blush swatches as stress relief because it’s sooooo relaxing  and fun to see makeup swatches.

Longwearing Eye Primer

mac 24-hour eye base https://amzn.to/3RWUDjf

This is a newer eye primer for myself. I’ve been using the Mac Paint Pots exclusively for years, but decided to switch it up a few months ago. This is a sheer eye primer, meaning that eyelid veins or discoloration will not disappear using this eye base, unlike the Mac paint pots which will cover up your eyelids with a good base of pigment.

The Mac eye base has been very promising so far. My eyeshadow still creases but it’s hardly noticeable and I have a very sexy lived-in eye look after 12 hours of wear. No smudging unless my mascara irritates my eyes and causes me to rub my eyelids. This feels very much like what makeup artists use on models for their eye makeup. Perfect for makeup artists to use in everyday makeup or editorial makeup scenarios.

Hard Hold Clear Eyebrow Gel

For me, the best clear brow gel has to have a strong hold, an applicator that can be wielded with precision, and a semi-matte finish. Limp hold, oversized applicators, and chunky white brow gels need not show up.

These two are my top contenders to fill my requests:

L.A. Girl set it clear! brow gel https://amzn.to/3ThXBQ8

L.A. Girl has so many underrated products! Their Set It Clear! brow gel is a gem of a product. This brow gel formula strikes the perfect balance of strong hold, while not getting chunky, gunky on your brow. You can graze your brow while massaging the stress out of your forehead without getting a splinter in your hand. Plus the applicator is astounding! Small for precision, with adequately generous spoolie bristles to make your brows look perfectly groomed up, down, thick, or thin.

Strong cement hold and multiple brushes to tweak your eyebrow shape are the highlights of the Refy brow sculpt brow gel. Caution: the more you apply and fuss with this gel… the potential of your eyebrows looking like snowy mountain peaks, increases exponentially. This is still the best product in a tube component, that laminates your brow hairs directly to your brow bone. I would like to try the Patrick Ta laminated brow gel to see how it compares. But even still, the formula of the Refy brow sculpt is that of a cream pomade: stiff hold, matte finish, malleable until it sets.

Easy to Use Brow Pencil

It just works… no fuss, no muss.

Smudgy eyeliner

With my eyeshadow looks veering more and more neutral… even straight to a matte cream beige eyeshadow all over the lid; I’m enjoying the look of brown and black eyeliner smudged in the waterline and lower lash line. It makes your lashes look fuller and adds some sexy sultry framing to your eyes. Overall, smudgy eyeliner makes a big impact for how swiftly you can draw along the outer half of your lower lashline and then gently smudge with a clean fingertip or pencil brush.

maybelline line express pencil liner – black https://amzn.to/3ToO6Pe

Maybelline’s line express pencil eyeliner is simple and no nonsense. It gets the job done without a fuss, and stays put on your waterline without cause for complaint. The wood pencil packaging makes it easy to sharpen and the formula stays creamy without making a mess. No dragging or tugging makes this maybelline eyeliner a star in my collection.

Doe Eye Mascara

How do I count the ways I love thee, bambi (oversized mascara)? Easy to remove after a long day of being nAtUrAlLy pReTty with enviable long lashes. There’s volume, but mostly by making your lashes look longer and stand up alone. Strategically clumped lashes have many possibilities with this mascara.

I’ve talked about this mascara so much in a few of my videos on Youtube. Check out these to see this mascara in action:

Supernatural & Super Natural™️ Lipgloss

l’oreal lip balm-in-gloss – celestial blossom https://amzn.to/3rWVTrZ

When I made my lip gloss & balm video a few months back, I totally forgot to mention this product which was the WHOLE inspiration!!! Well, I’m here to right my wrong and set the record straight.

The L’Oréal lip balm in gloss is making several points. It provides the lip moisturization of a lip balm, but the elegance of a lip gloss all in one product. So chapped lips can be soothed with a beautiful balmy gloss without needing to carry two separate products. This is still quite unique because even lip oils aren’t as nourishing. The formula is pillowy and elegant. It’s honestly a better version of the Givenchy lip balm people have been raging about.

The pointed figure-8 applicator holds more of the product so you don’t have to keep dunking the wand in several times if you have full lips. I have the lightest shade celestial blossom and precision hasn’t been needed for this color, but I’m sure it might be helpful if that’s something that concerns you with a shade that may show up more apparently on your lips.

It’s a ten out of ten, highly recommend. I’ve already finished one within 6 months and I’m well on my way on my second tube. This is model off-duty lips, not worried about carry four lip products in your purse, effortlessly beautiful, “rich girl” lips in a tube.

buxom lip polish – dylan https://amzn.to/3rUgkFW

This plumping lipgloss is likely the most used makeup product I have in my collection currently. Since previous titleholders have been panned completely, retiring them to my makeup memories box. Buxom’s Dylan will be on its way there soon since I have been using this almost daily.

This translucent pink gloss shows up clear with sparse silvery shimmers. It’s my secret weapon for boosting my look. The shimmers are hardly apparent if you’re anti-shimmery lipgloss. The tiny glitters reflect light to enhance the plump lip look from the soft wet shine of the gloss. You will feel the tingling of the plumping lip gloss formula, but it’s not overwhelming if you’re familiar with plumping lip glosses.

After application, your lips look incredibly plump. When I wear this, people have asked me if I have gotten lip filler. And I have–  but they never said anything when I wasn’t wearing this gloss!

In conclusion: these makeup items have not let me down and I hope they won’t let you down either. If you would describe your daily makeup routine as a little more than a tinted moisturizer & chapstick, but a little less than full glam… you’re probably like myself and these recommendations are sure to please.
